Memorial "Eternal Flame" is installed in memory of the citizens of Dmitrov who died during the World War II. More than 15 thousand of our compatriots did not return from the war. Many of them were awarded by medals. Thirteen natives of the Dmitrovsky district and six people who lived in the city and district in the pre-war years were awarded by the title Hero of the Soviet Union, five became holders of the Order of Glory of three degrees. The opening ceremony of the memorial was held on November 8, 2001, in the days of the celebration of the 60th anniversary of the defeat of the German fascist troops near Moscow. On June 22, 2012, at the eternal flame, a memorial stele was opened with the names of residents of the district who went to the front, which is a semicircular granite pedestal of a small height, on which are carved the names of those killed during the war. The monument was made by the project of architect R. Narsky and sculptor A. Shitov. On December 5, 2013, an e-Book of Memory was opened at the Eternal Flame with the names and surnames of three thousand compatriots who died on the fronts of World War II.
